Good composition is rarely (if ever) given over by the scene itself.

As an artist, you have the opportunity to rearrange elements to make it your own. The scene at hand is only a jumping off point. The landscape can be treated like setting up a still life. You get to make your decisions on what and where to include the elements of the scene.

"It takes real ingenuity to select, reject, and arrange all parts so that the painting appears both artistic and casual." -Edgar Payne
