Adventure & the Painter's Mind

Arriving on a Scene

When you arrive on a scene outdoors, first try to determine your intention.

Spend time and thought before starting a painting. Decide what is most important to you in a scene.

For instance, it could be the relationship between pine trees, aspens, and mountains in the distance. It could be simplifying all masses so that you can elaborate more in a certain area.

Begin to manage the scene towards your intention by composing many ideas.
